Organic Phoenix Dancong Tea

Phoenix Dancong: the oolong known for its aroma

Dancong is one of the most aromatic oolongs in the world. The name means "single bush": each Dancong tea plant grows its own sturdy trunk and can become a tall tree, and traditionally every tree was picked and made on its own.

An aroma that keeps changing

Phoenix Dancong is often called "the tea that talks". Its classic aroma styles include honey orchid, gardenia, magnolia, tuberose and narcissus — all natural scents of the leaf, nothing added. The fragrance lasts through many infusions, and every steep, from the first to the eighth, shows a slightly different side.

The cup is bright gold, sweet and smooth, with honey or ripe-fruit notes and a long finish.

The art of roasting

Roasting shapes Dancong's character: a light roast keeps fresh floral and fruity notes, a medium roast brings a mellow sweetness, and a deeper roast gives a warm, toasty depth.

After a meal

With its lofty aroma and clean, refreshing liquor, it is lovely to sip slowly after a meal — and a fine tea to share with guests.

Two styles from our garden

Honey Orchid (Mi Lan Xiang) — the classic Dancong, and the one most people fall for first.

• Longan honey and ripe fruit on the nose, sweet on the palate, with a gentle fruity tang at the finish.
• Open the tin and ripe lychee and longan rise to meet you; the cup is smooth and naturally sweet.

Honey and orchid in one cup: generous but never cloying. A wonderful first Dancong, and a favourite of seasoned tea lovers.

Eight Immortals (Ba Xian) — the elegant, high-aroma style.

• Orchid, ripe fruit and a light creamy sweetness take turns in the cup.
• Like stepping into an orchid greenhouse: fresh, natural and quietly elegant.
• A clear, delicate liquor with a long orchid finish — a tea to sip slowly.
