hat Kind of Oolong Tea Is Suitable for Cold-Sensitive Bodies?

Submitted by yiguo2000 on

Q: My body tends to feel cold, and my TCM doctor says oolong tea is too “cooling.” Can I still drink oolong tea?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), tea is believed to have either “cooling” or “warming” properties, depending on how it is processed.
Lightly oxidized and unroasted teas like green tea or high mountain oolongs are typically considered cooling.
However, heavily oxidized and roasted oolongs, such as rock-style oolongs, as well as red oolong and black tea, are usually seen as warming and more suitable for people with cold-sensitive constitutions.

At Formosa Phoenix Tea Farm, we specialize in high-oxidation, roasted oolong teas inspired by Wuyi rock tea traditions. These teas are naturally warming and balanced, making them more appropriate for those who are advised to avoid “cold-natured” foods and drinks.

🔥 Recommended Teas for Cold-Sensitive Individuals:

  • Roasted Heritage Oolong: Fully oxidized and traditionally roasted. Warm, smooth, and rich with mineral depth and natural sweetness.
  • Red Oolong: A tea between oolong and black tea. Soft fruity and honey-like aroma with a naturally warming character.
  • Honey Fragrant Black Tea: Fully oxidized black tea with a naturally sweet honey aroma. Very warming, smooth, and easy to drink daily.

We currently do not produce Oriental Beauty tea, but if you're looking for a warming, honey-fragrant, and fully oxidized tea, our Red Oolong and Honey Fragrant Black Tea are excellent alternatives.
